Agentic AI for Accounting

Adding AI agents or chatbots on top of existing systems can improve analysis, but it does not perform the work itself.

To make AI do the work, we start with the actual process — the spreadsheets, documents, and day-to-day tasks — and convert them into structured language.

From there we build individual agents that can replicate the work. This process is time-consuming and requires close collaboration.

That is why we work directly with the client’s team, transforming roles and capabilities so they become part of the solution. Together we turn tribal knowledge into reliable agents that allow accountants to operate at a higher level.

Problem & Solutions

The Problem

Adding AI tools on top of existing systems can improve analysis and reporting. It does not, however, change how the underlying work is performed.

Much of the real effort in accounting still sits outside the ERP — in spreadsheets, email chains, informal procedures, and the experience of individual staff members. Until that knowledge is captured and structured, AI agents cannot reliably take on the work.

Converting these processes into structured form takes time and close attention. It requires examining each task, understanding exceptions and judgment points, and redesigning roles around the new agents. This is slower and more involved than simply deploying a generic AI layer.

The Solution

We begin with the work itself. Together with your team, we identify the processes that still depend heavily on spreadsheets and manual effort — particularly those that are essential to the close, such as reconciliations, accruals, and related schedules. We convert that knowledge into structured language and build agents capable of performing the work.

At the same time, we train your team to monitor, refine, and expand the system. The goal is not only to deploy agents, but to transfer the capability so your accountants can continue developing and overseeing them.

This approach keeps development costs manageable, improves adoption, and raises the value of the existing team.

As agents take on more of the preparer work, the accountant’s role shifts

The New Role of the Accountant

  • From preparer to reviewer, analyst, and overseer

  • Monitoring agent activity, logs, and variances

  • Handling exceptions and items that require judgment

  • Maintaining and improving the structured knowledge (the Library)

  • Working directly with the agents

  • Serving as the internal point of expertise for the system

The goal is to raise the level of the work, not simply to reduce headcount.

What’s Included

  • Information gathering and process review

  • Training your team to convert work into structured language

  • Building the company-specific knowledge structure

  • Design and deployment of the agents

  • Secure connections to your systems

  • Cloud hosting and data storage

  • Ongoing system maintenance and upgrades

Ongoing fees cover cloud hosting, data storage, system monitoring, and core maintenance of the agents and infrastructure. Additional services — such as developing new processes, expanding the Library, or providing extra training and support — are available as needed and quoted separately.
